Texas State Guide.

Texas. My home State. Where I lived for 35+ years of my life before moving to Colorado, then France, then opting to be Nomadic.  Visiting your own home state as a tourist is a radically different experience!

TEXAS BLOG POSTS.

Unfortunatley, on my first trip to Texas, I had literally had my van for less than a week. So – at that point, creating content was the furthest thing from my mind as I was still learning what all the buttons did! On the Second trip (mainly to see family), I created a lot more content!

Spider Mountain Bike Park

In Texas there exists a ski lift. But its not for skiing – its for riding. Yes. There is a lift served Bike Park in Texas. And it is fun! In addition to the novelty of riding a lift served bike park in Texas and great climate in the middle of December, the rides offer a real challenge.

Thousand Trails Lake Whitney

Lake Whitney is one of your many Thousand Trails and Trails Collection parks offered in Texas. It has its charms. And its drawbacks. Check out my review here and go on a campground walkabout with me – before you visit!

Medina Lake

My first bike park experience was at Blue Mountain Resort in the Poconos. And wow! What anb amazing bit of luck because BMR is the perfect beginner/intermediate bike park. Want to know why? Check out the video!

Some Thoughts and Highlghts:

Texas is an incredibly diverse state both from a geological perspective to a cultural one. From mountains to beachfront – you can get find it in Texas! It’s also a great place for Thousand Trails Members! There are tons of parks for you to visit around the State so you have plenty of options.

For VanLifers, many Texas beaches allow you to drive on and camp directly on the beach for free or a minimal fee. How great is that? Beachfront property for free.

About Me/What I Bring.

I didn’t start this life to blog. I’m a retired lawyer and CEO. The result. I take a more analytical, data-driven approach to travel and RV life than most creators in this space.

Instead of focusing on hype or highlight reels, I focus on:

  • how things actually work,
  • what they really cost,
  • what breaks or goes wrong;
  • and what I would do differently next time.
